Steffan qualified as a Solicitor in July 1995 and since that time, has advised companies, directors and managers in respect of a variety of health, safety and environment prosecutions brought by the Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities and the Environment Agency. Steffan, in conjunction with his team, advises proactively on health and safety systems and procedures, with a particular emphasis on corporate manslaughter, directors’ duties and tackling claims cultures within the workplace.

Steffan’s most noteworthy success was the recent R v HTM case which, as well as resulting in an unanimous not guilty verdict at Teeside Crown Court, had earlier established, in the Court of Appeal, two significant principles in health & safety criminal litigation. Steffan and his team handle dozens of HSE and general regulatory matters each year. Steffan is commended both in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners
