John has over 18 years’ experience in the field of health and safety with British Gas, local authorities and as a consultant with the Royal Bank of Scotland Mentor Services. On match days he is the ground safety officer for Swinton Lions and Salford City Reds rugby league clubs.

John is currently President of IOSH and a past chairman of the Manchester and North West Districts Branch. In the past he has been the chairman of the Public Services Group and served as a member of the Institution’s Admissions Committee and the Fellowship and Membership Scrutiny Committee.

He is currently also the secretary of the Rugby League Ground Safety Officers’ Association.
