Company Name: The Natural History Museum Job Title: Head of Health and Safety Having started his twenty three year H&S career with IBM UK laboratories in Hursley Alan moved in to the IBM UK parent company and over a ten year period held various H&S positions including centre of competence for fire safety, working in both the UK and Europe. After a move in to the financial sector working for various blue chip companies Alan started his own H&S consultancy providing advice and guidance to numerous businesses including local authorities and a national charity. Seven years ago an opportunity arose to provide short term cover as Head of Health and Safety at the Natural History Museum which resulted in Alan taking up the permanent position. Dealing with not only 3.75 million visitors per year but also 350 of the worlds leading authorities on the natural world and the science they pursue. More recently Alan has formed a shared H&S service within the Museums sector and with his team is currently delivering an advice and guidance service to seven national Museums and Galleries |
