Conference development

The development of the IOSH annual conference is a year-round process and depends hugely on input from IOSH members, without whom we couldn’t produce such a high-level agenda focused on the needs of the profession.

The evaluation forms that delegates complete at the conference provide us with valuable feedback to start preparing for the next year’s event. An online survey to all IOSH members provides insight on the key challenges facing the profession and guides the selection of the theme for the next year’s conference. This research is then supported by two weeks of telephone interviews with members.

More than 2,700 IOSH members had their say on what they wanted to see on the agenda at IOSH 2012.

Conference Working Party

Once the research results are collated, they are presented to the Conference Working Party. The Working Party is made up of:

  •  key members of the IOSH executive
  •  handpicked health and safety industry experts with a broad range of professional expertise
  •  UBM – the conference organiser.

UBM’s role is to use the feedback and research to develop the agenda and source expert speakers to provide solutions to your challenges.

The Conference Working Party is critical to the development of the conference programme, steering the entire event to ensure it informs, challenges and inspires all who attend. The health and safety industry experts on this year’s Working Party are:

  • Subash Ludhra, President Elect, IOSH and Managing Director, Anntara Management Ltd

  • Stephen Gregory , Head of Health and Safety, BBC

  • Patrick Keady, Professional Interim and Independent Consultant, Better Outcomes Ltd

  • Justin Page, Head of Infrastructure Maintenance Safety and Compliance, Network Rail

  • David Pratt , Director, RSK Group

  • Robert Skinner, Director, Derwent Safety Centre Ltd

  • Darren Smith, Partner, Risk and Liability Department, Hill Hofstetter LLP
